Term 5
Welcome to Term 5 in Year 2! We hope you are all well rested after the break.
Our whole school theme for Term 5 is "Citizenship." We will be thinking about how we can make a positive difference in our society, and to everyone around us. In geography, we will be focusing on fieldwork this term, and conducting our own fieldwork both in our school and in the local area. Once we have collected our data, we will present and analyse it and share our findings with Mrs Cairns!
Our English text for this term is "Rabbit and Bear-Rabbit's Bad Habits" by Julian Gough. In this story, Rabbit has some bad habits which Bear tries to help him overcome. Through this story we will be thinking about our theme of citizenship, as well as how to be a supportive friend. We will be learning how to write non-chronological reports, as well as creating character descriptions and retelling the story.
In maths we will begin the term by revising our learning of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will then move on to fractions so will be finding halves, quarters and thirds of shapes and numbers.
Science this term will focus on plants, and identifying the best conditions for their growth. We will be conducting our own experiments and planting our own seeds.
In RE we will continue to think about the question "How should we care for others and the world, and why does it matter?", with a focus on Judaism. In PSHE, our topics are Computer Safety, and Caring for the World, both inside and outside the home. We are going to be learning a new tune on the glockenspiels this term in music, to add to our repertoire! Our computing this term will focus on presenting data digitally using pictograms and graphs.
P.E. will be on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. We will be focusing on rounders and cricket.
Forest school will be on a Tuesday.
