Term 6
Welcome to Term 6! We hope you are all well rested after the break, and ready for a busy final term in year 2!
The whole school theme for Term 6 is Health. We will be exploring this theme in PSHE, science and PE lessons.
Our English text for this term is "The Wild Robot" by Peter Brown. This wonderful story follows the journey of robot Roz when she finds herself alone on a desert island. We will be thinking about how to describe the setting and characters of the story, and use the book as inspiration to write our own adventure stories.
In maths we will begin the term by focusing on measuring mass, capacity and temperature. Throughout the term we will also be learning about fractions, finding halves, quarters and thirds of shapes and numbers. We will learn about time towards the end of term.
Science this term will focus on animals, including humans. We will be looking at life cycles and stages of growth, as well as what animals need in order to survive and stay healthy. Our history topic links to sport, with a focus on the Olympics-we will be comparing the ancient Olympic Games to the modern Olympic Games, thinking about what has changed and what has stayed the same. In RE we will be considering the question "What makes places sacred?", with a focus on Islam. We will be composing our own music in term 6, using instruments to do so in music lessons and digitally in computing lessons!
P.E. will be on a Monday and a Tuesday. The P.E. this term will focus on orienteering and athletics.

Please continue to read at home regularly and record this in your child's reading record. Books will be collected in every Thursday, ready for book change on a Friday. However, please ensure books are brought in every day for individual reading opportunities.
Please practise times tables on TT Rockstars regularly, as well as spellings on EdShed.
